The hell it did. If that was the case, why did Stern change the draft eligibility guidelines? If they were as successful as you claim, Stern wouldn't have changed a thing.

NBA draft first round picks straight out of high school, the comprehensive list:

    Future Hall of Famers:
    Kevin Garnett
    Kobe Bryant
    LeBron James

    All-Stars:
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Tracy McGrady
    Amar'e Stoudemire
    Dwight Howard
    Andrew Bynum
    Tyson Chandler

    Long-time starters/key contributors:
    Darryl Dawkins
    Al Harrington
    DeShawn Stevenson
    Kendrick Perkins
    Al Jefferson
    Josh Smith
    J.R. Smith

    Solid role players:
    Travis Outlaw
    Martell Webster
    Sebastian Telfair
    Dorell Wright

    Limited greatly by injuries:
    Jonathan Bender
    Shaun Livingston
    Robert Swift

    Busts:
    Leon Smith
    Darius Miles
    Kwame Brown
    Eddy Curry
    DeSagana Diop
    Ndudi Ebi
    Gerald Green

This list leaves out second-rounders, including Rashard Lewis, Monta Ellis and Louis Williams.

What's more worth noting is the success rates in 2004 and 2005 were very high. David Stern does what he wants, and college basketball was struggling, so he gave the NCAA a pat on the back.

That's 16 players clearly worth first-round picks, 11 players clearly not (including the injury cases).

Where does Moses Malone fit on that list?

As a player who was not drafted.

    Drafted by the ABA though.

Yes. That's why he's not on a list of NBA draft picks.

Kentucky was almost certainly going to make the tournament with a healthy Noel. The only quality win was at Ole Miss, but they didn't have any truly terrible losses and were going to end up with 20+ wins. Maybe in a different year they miss it, but you have to have 68 teams, and UK was one of the best 37 at-larges in the country.

Now? It's too early to tell. How they respond against Tennessee this weekend will say a lot, and since they're going to be judged now on who they are without Noel, they can't really afford any regular season losses to teams that aren't Missouri or Florida (and, honestly, they probably need to win one of those). It's going to be an uphill climb, and without Noel's leadership, I'll be surprised if they can make it.

  8. Sebastian Telfair should be moved from bust to solid role player...Gerald Green too

I suppose in Telfair's case, playing more than 500 NBA games and starting almost 200 and still being in the league makes him a role player. Green still needs to prove he can stick.

    What roles would those be?

In eight years, Gerald Green has averaged double figures exactly twice, and has played in more than 40 games exactly twice. For some reason, there seems to be a two-season gap in his career.

Telfair, maybe. But he has spent most of his career playing half the season. What role is he playing?

Curry did have some pretty good years with the Bulls and Knicks (including a 19 and 7 year), although he doesn't really fit in any of Versatile's categories. Maybe put Curry in Unrealized Potential category instead of Bust.

Does fatness count as an injury?
