    So a sports editor at this paper gave up the job to become a desk guy? I wonder how often that happens.

    Oh. I thought I had read in a previous post that the paper in Killeen has a dedicated desk guy who used to be the sports ed there.

    It does. Just a different guy. The desk guy was sports editor several years ago. The current sports editor is leaving for another gig.
