Is Colorado State going to throw any passes of more than 2 yards?

    Stunned that Colorado won today.

They were at a "New Mexico 2010/Washington State 2008" level.

As you probably know, location does give McNeese a bit of an edge in recruiting. Lake Charles is comparatively isolated, there is a lot of football talent in SW Louisiana, and LSU can't sign all of it. It's also pretty close to the Golden Triangle area of Texas (Port Arthur, Orange, Beaumont), and there is talent galore in that area as well.

Ralphie has been putrid for a long time, but last year was an abortion. Good to see them play decent today.

Houston isn't too far away either.

Plus, you can keep a mushroom eligible at that place.

Maybe being fans of an ACC school hearing continual shit from SEC fans does that to you when you shove one up their ass.

Believe me, I know McNeese well. The problem they have is that while their recruiting base is stacked, so is the competition. Everybody recruits south Louisiana now and they have recruited southeast Texas for years. Not just talking the regional schools in the SEC, Big 12, CUSA, SBC, Southland, and SWAC, but also northern and western schools dipping down south to find speed.

Very similar to South Florida's situation, only USF should be able to recruit better based on their place in the pecking order. South Florida is absurdly stacked with talent. It may be the one area in the country that can match the New Orleans-to-Houston stretch.

The scholarship caps of 85 (FBS) and 63 (FCS) make less of a difference for the FCS programs, particularly in an opener. Everyone should be healthy and basically it's one team's two-deep against the other team's two-deep. Those extra 22 schollies don't make that much of a difference; used to be that in a tight game the FBS team would eventually be able to wear out and pull away in the 4th Q.

And in a power conference, they'll get ample chances to prove that. It's damn hard to predict how good or poor an opponent will be several years out. So you schedule on geography, rivalries, money and other factors. If Florida was to travel to Boston to play Boston College instead of Miami, would that accomplish anything better?

McNeese might be pretty good in the Southland.

South Florida was clearly in a rebuilding mode last year and it may take a few years to get where they hope to be. They SHOULD be able to recruit well enough there in the long haul to be competitive.
