Forgot this one in Bennington: Abe Lincoln with a shirtless woman on her knees ... and a naked boy.

It's in front of the Bennington Museum.

Well, if we're counting Ronald McDonald...

My hometown, population about 500 and shrinking, has a bunch of statues by "grassroots artists." Most notable is Adam and Eve at S.P. Dinsmoor's Garden of Eden.

The statue has been vandalized a few times since its installation on the town square -- which is now a squircle. It was dedicated in 1909 and re-bronzed in 1985. A replica of this statue is on the Wisconsin campus.

    Here's an older shot:

This one is of him as a young boy. It's only a few years old.

Charlottesville, Va., doesn't have markers honoring me and Big Circus as former residents, but it does OK in the statue department. Thomas Jefferson is on the UVa campus, George Rogers Clark is down the street. Lewis, Clark and Sacajawea are near downtown with Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson in parks off the Downtown Mall.

Someone from Charlottesville is in the gallery as we speak. That's all.

We too have a Sacajawea. There is also a mini Statue of Liberty at the courthouse.

My former hometown of Jacksonville has an Andrew Jackson statue (city is named for him) as well as a large lion in San Marco and a large Jaguar outside the stadium (where some idiot kid got his head stuck in the mouth a few years ago)
Also the University of North Florida in Jacksonville has a statue of Ghandi on campus because the first day the school held classes happened to be the day India gained independence from Britain in 1948.

That's why they added the Arthur Ashe statue. To balance things out. Duh.
