Whitlock's First ESPN Column

Eh, if Whitlock wants to analyze quarterback play or reminisce about the Pacers' glory days he's readable, but nothing great.

But I don't get how a guy with such a track record of buffoonery can take himself seriously or expect anyone else to do so as voice on social issues.

 

Why should he not take himself seriously? There's always somebody ready to pay copious attention to said buffoonery and to throw large amounts of money at him for expressing it.

 

Bullshit. Jason Whitlock speaks for Jason Whitlock. He doesn't speak for any race,

 

I'm kinda tired of sports columnists that don't to any serious reporting calling themselves "journalists."

 

This is the biggest canard. Nobody designs majors to help athletes get through school. If they were to do so, there would be an Athletics major.
As for "devaluing" a degree -- only YOU can devalue your degree. Even if the accrediting board were to swoop in and remove its stamp of approval, your degree would still have been earned at the time when your university were still in good graces. And for goodness sake, Carolina admitted an entire department had major credibility issues, and the accreditors still didn't take a whack. So a few athletes getting by on a major that suits their time constraints isn't affecting your degree. It's this sort of garbage that gives Whitlock a reason to bellow. He's dead-on for about 80 percent of this column.

 

Has he ripped his former bosses at FoxSports.com the way he slandered his former bosses at KC Star on the way out the door?

 

So if you have a college degree from Oklahoma State and the news of what happened in Stillwater the last 15-ish years comes out, that doesn't impact how people perceive your degree? And don't you ever wonder why so many athletes fall into certain majors? It's called academic clustering. There's a reason why they're there.
