I saw that. It felt like it could be more symptom than cause. Did it contribute, or did it just provide a hole to burrow into? In either case, that game can be oddly destructive to a lot of people.

She's probably, to her credit, too discerning.

The same could be said for online message boards.

Washington Post film critic Ann Hornaday says Seth Rogan and Judd Apatow are partially to blame for this. No, really.

Movies are going to have a new rating now:

    "Rated M for Murderousness"

Back in the day you had 2 choices:

Work the angles for a piece of ass in the pool room ...

Or give in to the frustration and spill your seed in the bathroom.

That said, at least she didn't gloss over the salient point:

Even if 51 percent of our movies were made by women, Elliot Rodger still would have been seriously ill. But it’s worth examining who gets to be represented on screen, and how.

One line. The rest is foolishness that doesn't put nearly enough blame on the evil, murdering shit, his family and the many people who failed to recognize just how dangerous he was before he killed people.

Among other things, does she even really watch these movies she wants to blame? If you pay attention, the "shlubby, arrested adolescents" often have to grow up to get their happy endings in Apatow's movies, and many others like them. Not always, but I guarantee she didn't even realize that was the case in any of them.

And the next one will happen today, tomorrow, in a week, month or year because the next kid (and the next and the next) are playing the same video games and watching the same movies and have access to the same guns and are hatching the next rampage and atrocity and horrorshow.

So, the ad nauseum of waxing about what's wrong and what should be right falls on deaf ears.

I'm not sure what your point is.

You wanted her to focus more on the factors that led up to Rodger's rampage.

I'm saying it doesn't matter because 1) it's been the focus of every story and she was trying to make another point, and 2) no one cares enough to fix the factors that lead to these rampages.

Did your wife read this? And, if so, what did she think of it?
