Ignorant question: Shouldn't Russia be better at soccer? It's a huge nation that actually cares about the sport, no?

Following my pre-match Ghanian beer on Monday (awful), I am nervously drinking a glass of vinho verde right now.

Last non-USMNT question before the game ...

Does Asia really deserve more bids than CONCACAF? I mean, Asia has been turrble. It seems to me that the only reason CONCACAF doesn't have more teams is because of USA/Mexico domination, and Asia has more because of the addition of Australia. But if CONCACAF gets three into the knockout rounds (heck, even two), you could make a case that CONCACAF should get a fourth automatic bid for 2018.

I agree with this...and it helps explain why Asia may be having trouble in this Cup.

The USA needs to slow it down a bit. At that altitude they'll never last otherwise

    Very Agoos-y.

Portugal looks like they have 15 men on the field.

Are all the games on grass not artificial turf?

    What altitude?

Manaus is smack dab on the Amazon in the jungle region. The problem there is the crazy humidity, definitely not altitude.
