Expect Man U's new kit to be recalled in midseason.

Whoever came up with this Chevy/United ad did well.

GM is making a big push with the Chevrolet (never "Chevy") brand in the UK, mostly with the subcompacts like the Sonic. I don't know if they are phasing out Vauxhall or not. But I can't think of better branding than getting on the front of the Reds.

I thought Liverpool was the Reds.

For me, the World Cup is kind of like the Olympics: Unless it's their year and they're easily available on my cable system, I don't think about them when they're not in the public eye. I have enjoyed the World Cup games I have watched, but I don't know if the national intensity of the teams would translate into making watching league games enjoyable.

Man U are more properly the Red Devils, but that often gets shortened to the Reds.

This Seattle-Portland match is a nice capper to today's WC final.

::) I seriously thought the "when will soccer be popular" meme would be dead by now. When it comes to mind-numbing, factless claims, it is pretty hard to top this one.

    Shame.

I don't think he was speaking for anyone but himself.

    Hence the "For me" intro.

I'll take "Posts from 2002" for $1,000, Alex.

I mean, with all respect . . . no one cares. Watch it or don't watch it. But the discussion of the World Cup as potential spike for soccer fandom is long over.
