A Pittsburgh doctor explains how McCutchen's injury COULD HAVE been caused by the plunking:

Kind of reminds how when a pitcher suffers a leg injury, he subconsciously changes his throwing motion and then hurts his arm.

Yep. He's consistently overlooked, but he's an asset.

$8 million next year, and another $8 million player option in 2016 if he reached 600 ABs next year or a combined 1,100 ABs in 2014 and 2015. On pace for 650 this year, so may only need 450 next year to trigger that option.

    Well done, Ruben!

Hearing the Cubs got Hamels. Not sure how true this is yet.

The rumor is they claimed him. And it makes perfect sense.

Whether or not they could work out a deal in the 48-hour window is the question.

Can't imagine the Cubs would trade Javier Baez, Kris Bryant or Addison Russell. But maybe the Phillies could get two of Starlin Castro, Jorge Soler, Arismendy Alcantara, Billy McKinney and Albert Almora.

Hey, East Coasters, two great Angels-Dodgers games the past two nights. After being shut out by Garrett Richards on Monday, the Dodgers won Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday at Dodger Stadium, it was a walk-off on a tapper to third and a close play at the plate. Iannetta couldn't handle a wide throw to the plate from Freese. Wednesday in the bottom of the ninth of a 2-1 game, Kenley Jansen gave up a leadoff single and stolen base to Calhoun, the got Trout, Pujols and Hamilton with the tying run on second.

Yeah, I can't see the Cubs giving up anything that the Phillies would accept. It's not a good fit.

Tony La Russa is an idiot, if there was any remaining question.

    La Russa's an ass.

But he really must have cut your balls off or something at some point.

Nope. I have no personal animus. Garbage comes out of his mouth on a constant basis.
Somebody who has a personal grudge? Check out Keith Law's tweets the last week or so.

  11. Our national nightmare is over as AT&T and DirecTV will buy Comcast SportsNet Houston.

Clock is ticking as to when SportsNet LA goes bankrupt.

Really? With more homes exposed to the Astros, I'd say its just beginning.
