Find me one example of someone grabbing and holding onto a vehicle that just hit him going 40 mph.

I would say this hasn't been a banner fucking week for race journalists.

    I'll get right on that.

This is my theory of what Ward was attempting:

And, damn DD for mentioning James Cameron before I could present my theory.

Wait. You think the media latched onto a narrative before all the fact in a case were know.

    When has that happened? Ever?

By the way, did anyone ever recover the super secret video tape that the Esquire writer had obtained of the Northern Illinois shooter in his hotel room, checking his tattoo three times, that he used to write his lede?

Sorry, Dick. But the reason I can envision reacting in that manner is because I did just that in a similar situation when I was younger.

Driver lost control of a car in an alley. I wasn't thinking and I reached for the top of the car to try to hold on for dear life. It was pure reflex.

Didn't care to discuss it here because it brings back bad memories but since you are intent to tell me how I'd react I thought I'd share.

Why are you hung up on this Dick?

Narrative storytelling, like the kind they do in Esquire, has different rules. The readers understand this, and expect it.

    It's not journalism.

How tall/high was the top of said car?

Wow, someone in this small group of discussion participants did the same thing - got hit by a car going 40 mph, then reached up reflexively and successfully grabbed the top of the car to avoid being hit by the car.

    That's remarkable.

Surely if one person in this group did what some are purporting is the most plausible explanation for Ward's hanging from an eight-foot-high race car wing, there must be lots and lots of documented examples out there!
