    Nothing.

I just don't remember you expressing these opinions previously -- at least not so passionately.

And, it puts you at odds with many who you normally agree with. I just find it interesting.

Will Jersey's new law make it easier for those in Trenton, Camden, Newark etc etc to find a job then?

No, the white power structure does not want to exclude Asians and Indians "just as badly as it would want to exclude African-Americans."

Also, one enormous, elephant-in-the-room difference here that did not make it into your post: They chose to come here.

Not a lot of entrepreneurship going on on the plantation, I don't think.

    My goodness.

So you're aware of the history of black people in America, right? Like, how they got here and why and stuff?

I wonder why the "second generation" didn't excel in school.

I ask this in all seriousness: Do you really believe there's such a thing?

I did not introduce the term to the conversation.

The lack of positive male role models, in and outside the home, is the biggest problem. The breakdown of the traditional family unit is also to blame. A child raised with both parents in the home has a much better chance than one raised in a single-parent household.

Dr. Ben Carson is a role model. Suge Knight is not. Sadly, that's not how many of these young men see things.

They don't? Bubba will get angry, and vote Republican if an African-American takes his job, or gets his kid's spot in college "because of affirmative action" but will gladly see an Asian or Pakistani take his job?

Lots of refugees do well. They don't necessarily choose to come here. They are often fleeing their homeland as a last resort.

    That might be true, but:

-- Not all African-Americans are decedents of slaves

-- Slavery ended five generations ago

-- many of the refugees came from agrarian societies, lacking in entrepreneurship.

-- can we take any lessons learned from the immigrant experience and apply it in some fashion to help solve problems in the African-American community?

Fair enough. The witness will be excused from answering the question ... :D

It's a vicious cycle, no doubt, but the lack of positive male role models is a symptom, not the primary cause, of black America's centuries long malaise.

    When did Jim Crow end?
