If you're an ultra-competitive, driven reporter who wants to work in the country's leading media market covering one of the premier sports beats in the country, NJ Advance Media wants to hear from you. As one of two reporters assigned to the Yankees, you will be responsible for generating exclusive content and reacting to breaking news. Our writers develop content on a continuous, digital-first news cycle, while also tackling trending topics and writing enterprise stories. You will create stories and videos and post across multiple digital platforms. You will partner with one other beat reporter assigned to the Yankees, giving you an opportunity to develop sources and deepen contacts on and around the team. This is a position for a seasoned reporter with a phone/Rolodex full of contacts -- someone who brings a proven record of breaking news and developing sources on a major college or professional sports beat.

To be a good fit for this opportunity you should have:
Five or more years of sports reporting experience at a daily newspaper, television station or online news or sports agency, with proven ability in reporting and writing; a background covering professional baseball or a major college baseball program is preferred
A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience
A clearly defined track record of breaking news in real time and across multiple platforms
The ability to leverage relationships with sources to deliver content that differentiates the organization from competitors
Mastery of all relevant social media platforms and experience with search engine optimization (SEO) practice
Proven experience building, maintaining and engaging an active audience through blogging, social media and online comments
The ability to work closely with another reporter, sharing the success and building our coverage together
The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks appropriately under deadline pressure

I did a phone interview with some guy in the HR firm they hired but that was back on Sept. 30, no indication of anything else since then.

If there is any way you can do it, check with someone on the staff at NJ Advance Media and sell yourself that way. The recruiting services used by most Advance properties are clueless. I oughta know, I've been through the process.
