Dungy's innovation, the Tampa 2, is now thought badly out of date.
He was a so-so coordinator, mediocre postseason coach, his team won the SB a year after he was out the door, a poor analyst/pundit, his opinions anger people ... what exactly did he do?

That's an interesting question. I think it helped him until he made the Sam comments.

I think Joe Jacoby belongs in. But you could argue that Russ Grimm was a better guard than Jacoby was a tackle. The thing with the Hogs, was that the whole unit was great. Jeff Bostic wasnot too far off those two, either. Can you really say that Joe Jacoby was the Hogs' best lineman the way you have?

Mark May is going to throw a fit if he reads this.;D Agree Jacoby belongs in and I think you've made a heck of a point i.e. Grimm/Jacoby. Read a few years ago Jacoby is a physical wreck, not that it makes him unusual.

Jacoby should be in. I think he will get in eventually.

    His innovation, or Monte Kiffin's?

This is what will help him get in.

Lovie Smith, Leslie Frazier, Mike Tomlin, Herm Edwards, and Jim Caldwell all came up under him and Dungy played a role in them getting their shots to be head coaches.

That's his legacy and it's a respectable one.

The argument isn't that those guys are great coaches. It's that Dungy worked to open a lot of doors for a lot of black coaches to get their shot.
