Rooney Rule not the Dungy Rule. Frazier, Edwards and Caldwell are/were bad head coaches. If Dungy worked to get them, as individuals, HC jobs then he was nothing but another good old boy pushingfriends rather than increasing awareness that African Americans can be Vince Lombardi. All he's proven is that Rich Kotite and Ray Handley come in all colors.

Al Davis opened that door in 1989.
Even before, with the hiring of a Hispanic head coach.

Just for the record, I am not pushing that argument, merely explaining it.

I don't think Dungy is a Hall of Fame coach, though I'm not as adamant about that as many here seem to be.

That Caldwell almost won a Super Bowl with Dungy's team is most damning of all.
Not adamant against his inclusion. I've just never seen a good argument for it.
And wondering exactly when the sainthood began.

Really? Switzer & Seifert each won SBs. Doesn't make me question Johnson or Walsh.

False equivalency. Switzer was a very good college football coach who was a bit of a public buffoon and easy to disparage.
Seifert was a solid head coach who had one ridiculously bad season.

    Coach 1: Flores; 2: Dungy; 3: Reeves; 4: Parcells; 5: Schottenheimer

    OMG.

    OMG.

According to all that, Dungy is totally a Hall of Fame coach.

The name I was surprised about was Mike Kenn. He has never been a semifinalist before and he's, I think, by far the fifth out of the five o-linemen on the list so I wonder why they would put him through when he's got really no chance.

Also interesting that they bumped five semifinalists from last time and he was one of the new non-first timers, joining Darren Woodson, to get in.

DeBartolo, Tagliabue and Young were dropped because of the rule change.

The only player semifinalist to be dropped was Steve Wisniewski and I don't see why you would drop him in favor of Kenn.

Or that Gruden won a SB with the same team that Dungy couldn't get there.

Reeves is totally a better candidate

My guess at the final 15 (not who I would pick as the 15):

    Morten Andersen
    Jerome Bettis
    Tim Brown
    Don Coryell
    Terrell Davis
    Tony Dungy
    Kevin Greene
    Charles Haley
    Marvin Harrison
    Ty Law
    John Lynch
    Orlando Pace
    Junior Seau
    Will Shields
    Kurt Warner
