One day in Denver in January - what should I do?

    So for my wife's family Christmas (which happens middle of January), we go to the mountains around Denver and spend our time there - parents rent a cabin in the ski-resort-y areas. Last year was Winter Park. This year is Copper Mountain, I think.

    Anyway, I talked the wife in to taking one day of the trip away from the mountains and actually in Denver, since I've never actually spent time in the city.

    So, I've got one day (a Friday), actually IN Denver. What say you, Denver SJ? What should I be doing?

    PS. Already checked, no Nuggets or Avs home games that day.

    When I'm killing time in Denver, I always seem to wander up and down the 16th Street mall for a couple hour then wind up in a bar.

    Well, you're in Copper which isn't much of a town. You do have Frisco about five minutes away though. Go golfing.

    Pancamo, man, those pictures on that site are food porn. Everything there looks amazing.

    Vombatus, never been to a distillary before. A very cool suggestion, thanks!

    T_b_f, "Microbrews. Lots of them." Is basically my plan for getting through the entire weekend. But if you know of any local microbrews that I NEED to check out while I'm there, let me know!

    Well, what are your likes/interests? We have beer here. Lots and lots and lots of beer. And beef. Lots and lots of beef. Snooze (or Jelly) for breakfast/brunch. Be prepared for a wait, but worth it at both places. Get the doughnut holes at Jelly (jelly-filled). Burgers? City Grille. Steaks? Bastiens, Elways, Shanahan's, Del Frisco's. Casa Bonita is overrated and the food sucks. Buckhorn Exchange for something different. You can find lots of things to do along the 16th Street Mall. Art? Denver Art Museum. I LOVE the Denver Natural History Museum. PM for more specific questions/interests/requests.
