What a shock: Hollywood pushing back at "The Sniper"

Wow. That Taibbi column is something.

I see it's already been covered here. I'm only halfway done with it. Please tell me I don't have to finish it.

I think it's funny too that Eastwood has become such a villain to the left. I mean, the guy's nominally a Republican, and supported Romney, but he's hardly a strict conservative.

I also found it interesting that he's accused of not having presented enough context, or nuance in this story -- and not being capable of it.

I read that Spielberg was originally associated with the film and wanted to tell the story of both Kyle and an Iraqi sniper. Once Eastwood came on board, that idea went away.

But, it's not like Eastwood is incapable of such a thing. He made a whole fucking movie, "Letters from Iwo Jima" to tell the other side of "Flags of our Fathers".

Matt Taibbi. Not "Hollywood." Thus, not an example of Hollywood "pushing back."

I looked at Rothen Tomatoes. "American Sniper" has a 73 percent rating. That's fucked up. Every single other movie ever made has a 100 percent.

I didn't choose the headline of the thread. I've never said that it was "Hollywood" that was "pushing back" the hardest, or was the most upset about the film.

I do believe that your average, deranged, leftist does not like the idea of an American soldier -- a sniper no less -- being held up as an American hero; especially one from the unpopular (illegal, morally wrong, etc.) Iraq war.

Agreed. I mean, you are up to two examples now.

Another tremendous contribution from the board cancer.

I'm not sure Greenhorn posts enough to be considered the board cancer.

I laughed because YF, not being a journalist, used the oxymoronic "deranged" when referring to the average leftist.
