This is great. Now we can have replays to determine if the shortstop is six inches out of position.

Wow. He didn't waste any time coming up with something bizarre and bad for the game. Great start.

I guess Jerry Reinsdorf was right in trying to torpedo Manfred's election.

Yeah, really stupid. Shifts have been around since Ted Williams' time. Like Batman said, adapt or perish.

Reminiscent of lowering the mound after '68.

What he should be doing is finding a way to reduce strikeouts.

And speed the game up, reducing the length of games a bit.

The strikeouts would take care of some of that. There need to be less pitches and more balls in play.

Alas, another reason to ignore baseball until October.

You are ignoring baseball because the new commish said he would consider a ban on defensive shifts at some indeterminate future time?

    Tough crowd!

He also needs to outlaw the bunt -- there should be no room for a "tricky hit" in baseball. Also, the curve ball needs to be looked at. Pitchers throw that pitch as a deliberate attempt to deceive!

Playoff games shouldn't take 4 hours.
