The Monitor, a 41,000-circulation newspaper located in McAllen, Texas, is looking for a sports designer/copy editor to join our ambitious staff. The Monitor sports staff covers a wide range of beats, including high school football, junior league hockey, the NBA Development League, NCAA Division I University of Texas-Pan American and other sports. High school sports are prominent in our section and drive RGVSports.com.

Tasks include serving as a primary designer/copy editor for our print sports section, using InDesign and Photoshop. There may also be opportunity to write. The person should also be skilled in social media, posting consistently to our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Recent college graduates will be considered, but professional experience is preferred. Please send samples of your design work along with a professional resume and cover letter to deputy sports editor Dennis Silva II at dsilva@themonitor.com.

Samples can also be mailed to 1400 E. Nolana Loop, McAllen, Texas, 78502. Please no phone calls. Feel free to email Dennis with any questions.
