All that stuff sounds pretty objectionable to me. Off to jail.

While still a very bad statute, it is not so vague that it would include all of your examples.

    http://www.kslegislature.org/li/b2015_16/measures/documents/sb56_01_0000.pdf

The statute defines "harmful to minors" as:

"that quality of any description, exhibition, presentation or representation, in whatever form, of nudity, sexual conduct, sexual excitement or sadomasochistic abuse when the material or performance, taken as a whole or, with respect to a prosecution for an act described by subsection (a)(1), that portion of the material that was actually exposed to the view of minors, has the following characteristics [lists factors that would make the materials fall within pornography]"

ETA: should have said the listed characteristics are factors used to determine obscenity but in the context of what's appropriate for minors.

And, once again, I think there are already laws prohibiting the showing of 'pornography' to minors.

    Thank you for posting that.

That language does seem directly aimed at sex ed and showing PG or higher movies in the classroom.

Not a lawyer, but would it also cover sexting, which seems to be a common feature of the Poin files?

Speaking of idiots in Kansas and the Koch Brothers:

I happened upon the Wichita State/Northern Iowa hoops game Saturday. It took only a few seconds of airtime to realize the Shockers' homecourt is the CHARLES KOCH ARENA. WTFF???????????

There's already a law in Kansas prohibiting a person "in a position of power over a minor" from relationships that would otherwise be legal. When it comes to nailing teachers, Kansas is doing one hell of a job. Teachers have already lost some, if not all, of their rights to due process. That means if something comes down to "he said, she said" and one of the parties is a teacher, the teacher has every reason to shake in their boots.

I don't think this legislature either realizes or cares that somebody has to be qualified to ask a more probing question than, "Do you want fries with that?"
