I was ready to put Notre Dame past Kentucky based on the play of Jerian Grant. But I also never trust a Mike Brey-led team to go too far.

Same philosophy that has me taking Eastern Washington over Georgetown.

And why I'm putting Michigan State in the Sweet 16. They grind like UVA does. But Izzo on the two day turnaround is not something you want to fuck with.

Sparty has experienced guards: Trice and Valentine have been around the block a few times.

Dawson is really damned good, too, in their front court.

    Of the upset/Cinderella squads....

.I have Stephen F. Austin beating both Utah and Georgetown.
I have SMU beating UCLA and Iowa State.
    I have Oregon beating Wisconsin.
I have Georgia getting to the Elite 8.

If Georgetown loses again in the first round, JT4 shouldn't even do the post game press conference - just take a taxi and go home and never set foot on the campus again.

I've got way too much chalk on my brackets and I don't like it. I'm probably higher than most on OU, Iowa State and SMU.

I have Iowa State in the national championship game, so do you have them higher than that?

I don't have the Fighting Hoibergs winning it all though.

And not to clog things up with women's basketball, but I was utterly fascinated to see that Princeton, undefeated and ranked No. 7, got an 8 seed in tournament.

Andy Enfield got a fat USC contract based in large part on beating one of the G-Town stiff teams.

I think Iowa State is really, really good. Not that high on SMU. They have a lot of good to very good players but no great player, no one who can really take over a game when they need it against top competition. Kennedy could be a great player if he could only shoot from more than five feet away. I can't help thinking how good that team might have been if they could have gotten Mudiay into school and kept Frazier on the court.

If you think the Pac-10/12 has gotten much weaker over the years, it's not your imagination.

    No. 1 seeds 1995-2008: 7
    No. 1 seeds since 2009: 1
    Sweet 16 or better since 2009: 8
    Sweet 16 or better, 2002-2008: 14
Lottery Picks, 2009-2014: 8 (only five this decade)
Lottery Picks, 2003-2008: 13 (five alone in 2008)

I'd be curious to see how other major conferences compare in these categories.(Remember how down the Big 10 was until recently? )The conference really took a hit after Stanford's post Lopez Twins decline, in addition to the departure of Tony Bennett to UVa and Ben Howland's (still confusing) flameout at UCLA.

I took 'em to the Final Four but not into the title game.
