The Downs Syndrome kid. He didn't care about the perfect attendance award after his mom gave him that varsity letter.

The kid does exist, so does the assistant coach, the school exists, and the team did play in a tournament at that time.

The story I had linked first also mentioned there were pictures taken, but the site didn't run them because the opposing school was closed and they didn't name them in the story.

Is this post an April Fools day joke?

Well, let's see. No comment from any law enforcement agency on the incident. No information from any kind of police report (does a police report even exist?). That's all kinds of fishy when they claim the team got police escorts to the rest of the games.

Also, no comment from any school administration person on the incident. Not even naming the other school involved. Just quotes from the kid, his friend and -- not even the head coach -- an assistant coach. Then they say that they were sent photos from the incident but don't see fit to publish those. All they saw fit to post were three posed photos of the kid.

On a site of supposed journalists, I'd have thought someone would notice the glaring lapses.

Yes, the incident happened before Christmas, so I guess they didn't have any time to do any actual reporting seeing as they had to rush this into print on April 1 at 9 a.m.

You'd think a bunch of cars chasing a bus would cause a bit of a ruckus in small-town Kentucky. Yet the Floyd County Times managed to have a report on the four games but no report on any other incident.
