Who says everyone is out to get the Royals? The umpires didn't do a good job controlling things and we're inconsistent over the weekend. I don't think many Royals fans are claiming grand conspiracy.

To be fair, I have been bitching, YF-style, about the Narrative, and how the world has decided the Royals bear complete blame for this, and how insane it is to let the A's off the hook entirely. I don't think everyone, or even anyone, is out to get them.

Hey, don't compare your small market whining to my identifying, defining, and exposing the Narrative.

I don't know, if Herrera was "obviously trying to injure somebody" wouldn't he have maybe, like, actually hit somebody. Unless one of the best relievers in the game is less accurate with his fastball than Lawrie is when he throws his helmet at umps.

Herrera was stupid with the head pointing and deserves to sit out a few games, but obviously trying to hurt somebody? And I get called to task for saying Lawrie wanted to hurt somebody when he was clearly more interested in a take-out slide than actually getting to second base safely and maybe helping his team score runs.

Well what are we supposed to talk about since Ian Desmond has gone two games without an error?

I call BS, LTL! You'll have to cite that one before I believe it.

In the interest of meeting in the middle, I will concede that Brett Lawrie appears to be a full-on prick. So I can definitely understand the urge to bean that guy.

Goddammit, Jack. Some of us have waited 20 years to have something to say about the Royals and we're going to talk about the fucking Royals. When we worked in the same newsroom the only debate for me and Circus was if it was worse to be a Royals fan or a Pirates fan. Let us have this.

And in that same spirit, I'll add that it was wrong to throw at Lawrie, in addition to being wrong to throw behind anyone. Lawrie had paid his dues, so to speak. I don't know who would have been the equivalent of Cain, but it wasn't Lawrie.
