The Ledger-Enquirer, a McClatchy-owned daily newspaper in Columbus, Georgia, is seeking a writer to cover Auburn football and recruiting with a heavy emphasis on digital work, including video.

    The ideal candidate
    • will have college football beat experience and be able to go beyond just covering the games.
    • will need to be able to produce features, theme stories and breaking news stories.
    • must be highly-skilled in using social media to drive readers to our website.

This position is based in Auburn.

They had 3 Auburn writers leave in 3 years.
So they tried to hire a writer right out of college that they could mold.
He left in less than two years.
I think you can see the model they're looking for here.

The only job worse than this is covering Alabama and Nick Saban.

He's moving to a different outlet that covers Auburn and this is to replace him at the L-E

Yep, it's a high-profile beat in a pretty small shop, so there will always be turnover.

Have you ever covered 'Bama yourself?

Nope, and never will. Those people down there are insane. Malzahn and Saban fit right in.

Hiring young people that they don't have to pay a lot of money to. Hence the constant turnover.

Actually, I have but not in terms of being an Alabama beat writer. I've covered Alabama a few times, but only because the opponent was my beat.
