Oh yeah, wow, you know doubling down on the Blue Ball design element was very passive aggressive under the circumstances.

Remember when the biggest enemy was just Phil Currie? The good old days.

And Bob Dickey, the new CEO of the newspaper division, puts out a memo that is quite laughable.

» Gannett boss: ‘We will unlock the full strength and impact of being the nation’s largest newsgathering force’ JIMROMENESKO.COM

Oh, God, where do we start?

"What is our vision for the future? What are our plans for growth? How might our news business evolve? You might be asking, 'How will this affect me?'

Um, dipshit, the fourth question you put in is really the first question everyone wants to know. The others are irrelevant.

"Unlock the full strength and impact ..."

So you're saying that the staff was being held back before? By whom? Corporate?

The whole "new future of Gannett .... Not only serve communities, but form the connective tissue that holds all communities together."

Um, haven't you guys been trying to do that for 30 years now? How is that a whole "new future"?

"Bold new corporate strategy, requires we build a unified and nimble culture."

In other words, the same old shit that you've been doing, and even using the same buzzwords that you're already using. Only, this could also mean the bold new strategy of more layoffs.

"Uniting our different businesses into a single, nationwide news powerhouse."

Be prepared for papers merging into one. More layoffs.

    "Let us hear from you."

    Yeah, surrrre.

Hell, even the Soviets gave up on their "five-year plans" at some point. Of course - with Gannett, they've probably got a new batch of reporters now who find all of this new, refreshing and exciting.
