Buffalo seemed almost like a ghost town the last few times I was there, which would have been in 2007-08, but I would go there, hit Duffs, cover a game and come home and I was happy as can be. I'd get two visits to Duffs in if it was a night game.

The Bourbon Trail is worth it. Skip Jim Beam (they don't give you a proper tour), spend the extra time at Maker's Mark. Rent a limo and make sure you have GPS or you'll never find some of those places. Some of them require reservations for longer tours. And the Great American Ballpark is pretty awesome.

I haven't had the money to travel much (my "vacations" are mostly weekends that I steal to go visit friends or family and have been for about five years) but I'm hoping to go on a cruise next year with my best friend. Basically, if our vacation gets me away from a landlocked state and near a major body of water, I'm okay.

I think Woodford's is, by far, the best tour.

Montgomery is Jackson with a river. Shreveport is Montgomery with casinos.

I agree on the love for Dayton. Cool little town, and if you are into aviation, a must.

I think Columbus and Cincinnati are so-so.

Columbus's claim to fame is it's the place where all the chain restaurants are tried out.

In Cincinnati, I do like how they have the football/baseball and arenas all together on the river and have improved the area with bars and restaurants.

Montgomery is a prettier city than Birmingham, though, and is exceptionally Southern.

But I think the coolest Southern town is Oxford, Miss.

Montgomery is in no way prettier than Birmingham. I cannot imagine how someone could believe that.

Most of my immediate family members were born in Montgomery, but I'd have to agree.

I grew up 30 minutes north and now live an hour south. I've spent a bit of time there.
