Supreme Court watch

The people who lived there passed a law. The legislature ignored, then sued to keep the law from happening.

Supreme Court sides with the people and their intent.

This shifting definition of activist judges has me all confused.

Tony's holding out for a polygamous relationship.

I think he's more for polyandry.

Kind of telling that you see "getting laid" as a fix for something. Maybe you should just "get laid" instead of running to the courts to dismantle the will of the people.

I hate to defend Scalia on anything, but I do want to see that in greater context given the way justices sometimes go out on a limb coming up with their questions to highlight a point.

EDIT: Nevermind. After reading more about the arguments I'm convinced it wasn't taken out of context.

Oh, for sure. I'm sure he's speaking of African-American students who might not have otherwise been admitted to UT, but don't you have to be a little bit more careful? He's legitimately brilliant. Surely he can find a better way to say what he did than that right there.

    Seriously, on the Scalia thing:

What the hell is he talking about? I know the argument about letting "lesser-qualified" individuals in. But he's putting that on a whole race.

Yes, I know it might be harder to get into the University of Texas than Prairie View A&M, but it ain't Harvard or Stanford or anything. I don't believe they make all freshman go straight into Advanced Physics and Molecular Biology right off the bat.

I assume they have some classes that even the African-Americans can handle.

And to his second point, maybe there are more African-American scientists from "lesser schools" (traditionally black schools?) because they were more welcoming to them?

    What a tool.
