RIP Ken Stabler

  1. I think you're right... He started in the Blooper Bowl against Dallas, got knocked out, but he started AND the Colts won.

    Woodley's team lost.

Unless my brain has gone crazy, Woodley never started a SB for the winning team.

  3. Shit.. Had to look it up. Thought he QB'd in the Super Bowl for the '72 Fins.

Gotcha. Didn't see the "winning" part.

    It's Unitas.

He started SB V, got knocked out, and Morrall came in and got the "win".

Morrall started SB III for the Colts, and Weeb Ewbank replaced him late with Unitas in the loss.

Morrall filled in for Griese in the 72 undefeated Dolphin season, started the first two playoff wins that season. Griese started the Super Bowl win over the Redskins.

  7. Griese's stat line in the SB win ... 8-of-11 for 88 yards.

    Ex-citing.

I remember seeing that stat a few years ago. That is dreadful.

They had more yards on interception returns.

Super Bowl VII Box Score: Miami 14, Washington 7

    Kilmer wasn't much better: 14-28, 104 yards, 0 TDs, 3 INT.

Ken Stabler only has 2,577 followers on Twitter. Then again, his demo of fans probably isn't big on social media.

This part in their retractions kills me: "Unfortunately, other news outlets used social media to share the report."

The only thing unfortunate about this entire situation is someone pressed the publish button before confirming anything, but let's blame social media for sharing the original report.
