Trying to get back into the workout routine as well as running. Put on weight and am not liking things. So, I'm going to try and be more active in here.
This is where I'm at for the year. I've done a lot of road races, too, averaging about one per weekend this year. Since Nov. 2013 (when I started doing races), I've done 43 Races (1 Marathon, 6 Half Marathons, 1 Trail Half Marathon, 7 10K's, 1 Trail 10K, 2 5-Miler, 1 5K Biathlon, 2 Trail 5K, 1 Cross Country 5K, 21 5K's).
    Month Year 2014 Pace
    Miles 36.84 372.28 391.36 (-19.08)
    Pushups 490 5,730 6,585 (-855)
    Situps 490 5,730 6,585 (-855)
    Squats 490 5,160 4,780 (+380)

    OK, you win. :)

Seriously, you'll be back in shape in no time if you keep on working out that hard, and being that active.

Welcome back, JM. Where have you been?

I got away from SJ.com as a whole, Write. The Army, plus freelance writing for The Ledger-Enquirer in Columbus, Ga., kept me busy.
However, I came down on orders and moved from Fort Benning in Georgia to Fort Leavenworth in Kansas (just outside KC) a couple of weeks ago. I'm needing to make new freelance connections in this part of the world, plus I miss the comraderie that comes with SJ.com, so I decided to come back. I forgot my original username, so I went with my name. I didn't change my avatar or signature because, well, Dusty Rhodes is just the man. :)
I appreciate the compliments. I really lost my motivation to work out and run a few months ago and today I sort of hit rock bottom. I'm supposed to be training for a marathon in November (my second) and was supposed to do a run today that I knew I couldn't complete without it getting really ugly. I was really questioning whether I needed to be training for the marathon, where the love of working out had gone, etc. After talking to some of my friends, I came to the conclusion that I've been putting too much pressure on myself, especially by adding the fact that I'm trying to prep for a marathon.
So, I cleared my head a bit and have decided to be a little more healthier when it comes to my attitude (not worrying as much about the marathon training, making better eating choices, not doing as many races and working races into my training plan, etc.) about running and working out. Day 1 is tomorrow and I'm hoping I can come at it with a renewed sense of optimism and excitement.

Signed up for a 10k at Angor Wat in December. Never attempted even a 5k. Got caught up in the excitement; have already registered and bought the plane ticket. No turning back.

Trying to train, doing the run/walk thing now. So far, I'm at just under 80 minutes. I figure if it all goes South, I can still walk it in two hours.

You have a decent amount of time to train. You might surprise yourself with how you do. Good luck and enjoy it.

    So, after nearly two months away, I went to the gym today. Thrusters x 3 = 65, 85, 95; x 1 = 105, 115, 120, 125 (poor), 3 x 95. Row 500 meters, run/walk for a mile, elliptical for 10.
