The FDA is coming up short in their battle to protect the public from harm. They can't promote their success with trans fat without coming clean on their tobacco failure. Fans boo their team when they fail to perform; it's time to do the same to the FDA.

There is a clock, they keep score and it airs on ESPN. Competitive gluttony must be a sport. The winner ate 62 hot dogs and the sadness is that the nation celebrates. This week's column talks about obesity and the numbers behind weight loss.

All Star break for MLB and plenty of time to look at first half statistics to see whether they can predict the second half of the season. Medicine looks at statistics as well to help with decision making, but the results may be a little murkier.

I don’t particularly care if Brett Favre wears Wrangler jeans or that Peyton Manning loves Papa Johns Pizza. I do care when celebrity athletes make claims that are not medically sound and potentially dangerous.

This week’s column is all about Russell Wilson, the star quarterback and biotech investor who stretches credibility when he says that Recovery Water prevents head injury. Going through the company’s research.

Concussions may occur publicly with symptoms that are readily apparent, or they can happen in the shadows, when nobody sees it happen. This week's column and how tough the diagnosis can be:
