Well, they're thrown so frequently now, they need something to highlight.

    Fanboi alert.

I watched it at the casino bar. Fucking awesome. I was so loud in the eighth and ninth, the bartender said you'd think I was throwing the no hitter.

My favorite was like a week ago (numbers probably not correct):

"Record when Team X scores 3+ runs: 45-20
Record when Team X scores 2 runs or fewer: 12-56"

So you're telling me more runs are better?!?!? What a revolutionary idea!

Have teams who've been n0-hit twice in a season won divisions/pennants in the past? It would seem like an indicator of a big problem.

Joe Maddon's own 2010 Rays were no-hit twice despite leading the AL in wins.

Eh, I was trying to jinx it. A no-hitter by Arrieta was the only possible way I could lose my fantasy baseball playoff matchup and, well ...

This question intrigued me, so I attempted to do some research. (Please feel free to double check this. I rushed through it.) First off, it isn't often that a team is no-hit twice in a season. Most who were finished in the basement of their respective divisions, with a few exceptions:

In 2010, Tampa Bay was no-hit twice in the regular season: Dallas Braden of Oakland on May 9 and Edwin Jackson of Arizona on June 25. The Rays went on to win the AL East but lose in the ALDS to the Rangers.

The 1967 Detroit Tigers were no-hit twice and were just a game shy of winning the AL but were ultimately topped by the Red Sox.

In 1917, the Chicago White Sox were no-hit ON CONSECUTIVE DAYS: Ernie Koob on May 5 and Bob Groom and May 6, both of St. Louis. The White Sox went on to win the AL Pennant by nine games and clinch the World Series over the New York Giants in six games. Of course we all know what happened to the White Sox two years later.

Bonus Fact: A pitcher named Cannonball Titcomb threw a no-hitter in 1890.

Edit: Got rid of "AL East" in the bit about the Tigers. Apparently there were no divisions in 1967. No one bothered to tell me.

I think they said the 1971 Reds were the last team to get no-hit twice in one month.

They finished 79-83 that year, which was between two pennant-winning seasons for the Big Red Machine.
