Called the Monte Carlo. The problem is my stay crosses Labor Day and room rates go through the roof. They were like $250/night during the weekend, where Excalibur was around $130.

Damn. I've never paid anything close to that, but I don't think I've ever been there at a prime vacation time.

Are you dead set on staying in one location for the entire stay?

Anyone have advice on which sportsbook is best for hanging out, placing a few bets, and enjoying the day?

Enjoy Vegas, brotha! A buddy of mine is there this weekend at Caesar's, I think.

I think you'll enjoy any of the big sportsbooks. Just pick one.

    Goddamn, I'm jealous.

I'm not much of a gambler, but I had a blast at Mandalay Bay sports book one afternoon.

Check out Emeril's Stadium in the Palazzo. Great food, great girls, great sightlines.

    The good:
My boss has sprung for me and my only colleague I like to go to Las Vegas for 2 days/nights to attend a conference.

    The bad:
He's insisting that he come too, and he's bringing with him the insufferable know-it-all we work with.

    The ugly:
He's insisting that we all meet for dinner then attend the oldest, most boring Cirque show with them and his husband.

    The best:
At least my wife has agreed to let me stay an extra night, to have a Friday on the strip by myself.

OK dusting this thread off to write a correction to the above:

Cirque's O at the Bellagio is an amazing spectacle and I had a blast and couldn't have been more wrong about it being an ugly experience; I actually feel bad about writing that,

I may have to have a few martinis in a bit to punish myself.
