Let's not act like there's one clear standard on these things. I'd never do anything like this in my newscast. It certainly doesn't belong on the front of the Washington Post.

But as a tabloid cover? That is a GREAT tabloid cover. It's provocative. It's a twist on the mainstream coverage, which the readers were inundated with the day before. For what it is, it's tremendous.

The people pointed out on the cover are among the people in Congress, the one place in the country that could do/have done something about gun control, and now are either candidates for President or running the agenda in the House (Ryan). Instead of taking action, they seem to feel that abdicating their responsibility can be excused by using the worn-out platitudes of thoughts and prayers.
Bernie Sanders could have Tweeted about thoughts -- prayers in his case would be dishonest to his beliefs -- but it's also likely that he voted for gun controls (didn't look it up).
The cover is glaring -- drawing attention, isn't that what covers are supposed to do? -- but also very subtle for a tabloid. Many people in this thread even missed the connection. Appeals to gods haven't worked yet to end shootings by terrorists/deranged gunmen. Why would they in this one case?

Where did they mention anything about homosexuals? It's obvious what your agenda is.

    Murphy posted this:

"Well, more and more we as a country are telling God we don't need Him or those ways are just out of style/too old fashioned. "

Isn't one of the main complaints from Christians today is that gays are subverting the institution of marriage? And that God is looking down on us because we're being too accepting of gays wanting to be married?

Well, it stands to reason that all this is happening because we're being too nice to gays, right? God is mad at us, right?

I'd buy several copies of that just so my birds could shit all over it. About all it's worth.

It's not a journalist's job to tell someone how to think, much less what to do. It's a journalist's job to make someone think.

If a newspaper had front page headlines about 10 commercial airline crashes in the U.S in a year, more than any other country - don't you think the newspaper would look into why the U.S. is different. Wouldn't we as Americans expect Congress to look into it and try to make sure everything was being done to prevent them from happening?

This is absolutely pathetic and a sad attempt by a piece of shit lefty rag that is on its last legs and laying people off by the 100s to try and garner attention and stay relevant.

Jarring, yes, but less so for those of us from cities with a tabloid culture — NYC, Boston, Philly, Chicago.
