The window for a brokered convention is starting to close. If Trump sweeps Ohio and Florida, it's virtually over. Cruz would have to get on a major roll and he's running out of Cruz-friendly caucus states. If by some miracle Trump loses one or both, then it's game on.

The RNC is in a tricky spot. If they are too overt in screwing Trump and it looks in May like he won't hit the magic number, Trump may go third party just out of spite. Also, keeping Rubio and Kasich in the race past their sell-by date could do nothing but divide the anti-Trump vote and ensure that Trump's plurality carries the day.

 

The GOP should not have left the keys in the ignition like that.
