That the 58% number didn't jump out at somebody on team Trump-- or Trump himself-- scares me.

There are third world countries in sub- Saharan Africa where with youth unemployment rate is around 30%.

    That's horrible.

    58% in the United States?

    WTF.

Where did they get the number? Does it include teenagers and incarcerated youth?

I'm not even sure those would get them to 58%.

Sanders said 51 and Politifact ranked that as "mostly true."

That number Bernie used was for young black males who did not go on to college. And those who had part time jobs were also counted as unemployed.

I mean, are 17 year olds expected to have full time jobs ?

    From Politifact:

[The 51% number used by Sanders] didn’t just look at employment status for people between the ages of 17 and 20; it limited its reach to high school graduates who were not enrolled in further schooling.

And two, EPI counted not only unemployed workers but also those who were working part-time due to the weakness of the economy and those who were "marginally attached to the labor force." The latter category includes people who did not meet the strict definition of being in the job market, but weren’t entirely out of the market, either.

I know. But he didn't say any of that.

Did Trump say anything about moving the college football playoff back to New Year's Day?

    RE the 58 percent:

The official unemployment rate for black youth is about half of what Trump says it is.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate among blacks 16 to 19 years old was 31.2 percent in June 2016. Thisofficial unemployment rate refers to jobless people who are actively looking for jobs, as a percentage of the total available workforce of people who are working or are looking for jobs.

What Trump may be referring to, as our friends at PolitiFact Virginianoted, is the BLS employment-population ratio. This is a broad measure that refers to the ratio of the number of people employed compared to the total population, including people who are not looking for jobs. The employment-population ratio for blacks 16 to 24 years old was 42 percent in June 2016, so Trump maybe using the flip side of that — 58 percent, for the unemployment-population ratio.

Good roundup here of all of his claims:

It really does seem like he's describing the America of the first three Death Wish films.
