Assuming Hillary wins in a landslide, where does that leave things politically for immigration reform? 538 has her running slightly ahead of Obama's 2012 map. If she outperforms that, will she have an effective mandate to do whatever she wants?

There's a chance for a complete loss for the Trump wing. That, of course, will make that constituency madder and more belligerent, because they raised hell this election cycle and will have walked away with nothing. They could have gotten a better deal by supporting an immigration moderate like Rubio instead of swinging for the fences with a lunatic like Trump.

TL;DR: When this election is over, nobody will have learned anything.

I would hope that, like in Kansas, voters around the country are beginning to realize how destructive the whole Tea Party thing has become and will begin to replace these clowns with more moderate representatives who will have the support to reach compromises and pass common-sense legislation.

Just to clear up Tony's previous claim that Trump wasn't hurt at all by any of the Khan stuff with vets, he is doing significantly worse with the military than Romney and McCain did. (Romney did better than McCain, btw.)

I wonder if there's any point at which elected officials will come to the realization that they need to rebuild trust in the entire system again, in their entire class, and that a good start would not be demonizing their opponents at every turn and converting every misstep into an impeachable or prosecutable offense.

 

1. Maybe immigration is not really that much of a crucial national crisis? Obungo has been deporting people at near record levels. Maybe some minor tweaks in the road to citizenship process is the way to go. And maybe we can get there if we dont have buffoon haired freaks on teevee screaming about smelly Mooslims and Mexicans coming to rape your virgin daughters.

2. An absolute ass kicking loss for Dumpf is what this nation needs. His deluded dupes need to sit down, shut up, sober up, grow up, go away for 8-12 years, and then come back as smarter people and maybe then they can sit at the grownup table.

 

What a fucking game he'd be playing if it was meant to drag down the national GOP and really fuck-up down-ticket GOP so that the Dems can take full control.
