Not always. I covered the Sugar Bowl when Auburn tied Syracuse, the infamous Tie Dye game, that cost the Orange a share (at least) of the national championship. Afterward, I interviewed Jeff Burger, the Auburn QB, who led them into position for the tying FG. I asked him, "they say a tie is like kissing your sister. So how does your sister look right now?" He gave me the biggest shit-eating grin I've ever seen on a player as he answered, "She looks pretty damn good."

 

A kid who was a few years ahead of me in school and really competitive once eloquently stated "a tie might be like kissing your sister, but losing feels like getting raped by your little brother."

 

He went to Auburn. He'd probably say that if there was no football game.
