I'm going to give everyone a pass on this before condemning anyone for what they said shortly after it happened, and how early reports said there were shots, because none of those reporters and probably quite a few of the witnesses who surely ran like hell may have heard the shots of the officer and thought they were fired by the perp.

Plus, I haven't seen a timeline yet, but did this all go down in 30 minutes, 15 minutes or just 2 minutes? How compressed the timeline was to the shots and end of threat could explain some of the chaos and early confusion as to the shots. Conversely, if the events stretched out over a longer time, participants probably only saw a small portion of it before fleeing.

Has the motive been established yet?

Nah, Christians just claim the other country has WMDs, we can go in, conquer them, kill a few hundred thousand of them, and they'll greet us with flowers and candy.

Why, we should have waited until we knew everything, of course. I can hear that historic broadcast now: "This is Radio Honolulu with the noon news for Dec. 7, 1941. We finally found out what all those explosions around Pearl Harbor were about. We got attacked by Japan." Yeah, let's do that.

Should I be more focused on the Islamic motivation of the attack?

There are certainly more important places to direct your anger.

    It's not anger.

It's shock that the same mistakes happen every time we see one of these situations.

The police train for this. Does the media?

The military do after action reports. Does the media?

Why isn't every newsroom having a meeting tomorrow to discuss and plan how the next one will be covered?

Like QYWFSHDFE, you're simply doing it to antagonize. There's no purpose to your argument and you appear childish.

Was a pretty good discussion for a number of pages for those of us interested in and capable of that sort of thing.
