That's what I said: Stop laying off editors.

I actually think the Trump thing did have something to do with that.

A lot of people are looking for evidence, any evidence, that Americans are still decent people and that America hasn't been completely taken over by ignorant assholes.

Too bad they only found more evidence that it has.

Ioffe was already leaving for the Atlantic at the end of the month. So this might be more internal political payback than macro political. She has lived in and covered Russia and REALLY hates Putin. So this is no surprise.

The woman went to cops with a story about an attack on the subway. It was newsworthy (and particularly juicy) because it involved religious bigotry and the president elect."The media" (that monolithic entity in your cartoon skull) reported the story. As they should have. The stories presented it as HER account. They reported HER account -- HER having filed a police report. To think any newspaper or TV news would ignore a story that sensational is ridiculous. It had nothing to do with a "narrative." It had to do with the fact that it was a choice story.

Today, those same media outlets are reporting that she is being charged with making up the story. Does that "advance their narrative" too?

This is what newspapers and TV news do. They report stories like that.

    Oh. Who's being naive, Kay?

Of course it has to do with advancing a narrative.

I think it is good we
I think it is good for the board to have non-journalists here. Customer feedback is important, even for ex-journalists. But perhaps there should be a Journalism Basics section as well as Sports & News, Anything Goes, etc.

We'll pray a slower schedule and Ned's help with Donald's mental illness as well.

Duh, everything is advancing narrative. Like everyone's narrative of perpetual victimhood and their own side's eventual march to the top.

You're being naive. You sound like some dude emailing a colunnist accusing them of an agenda against their favorite team.

It's a business, always has been, the allegation and the resulting accusation of hoax are read by scads. Thats how the sausage is made.

    GSA may be lying now.

As a reporter, I've seen it both ways.

At any rate, you think it's agenda. It's probably not. It's probably a news desk doing an overwrought job of trying to move news on a slow day. It's a business. It's rather imperfect. Always has been.

Never shall be heard a discouraging word about GOD EMPEROR and the Pretty Princess. Proceed at your own risk. Be careful.
