Louisville was not in the UK system until 1969. Before that it was a separate municipal public university. Splitting hairs maybe, but until very recently, UL wasn't considered a major state university in the same sense as the large land-grant universities that still dominate college football.

Crank up the rumor mill...my buddy who's tapped in on the ACC says the Texas rumors are heating up again, along with Notre Dame joining for football.

Is Texas going to give up the Longhorn Network? Does that still exist?

The Big 12 is well on its way to becoming the Little 6.

Turn out the lights; might as well merge with the Mountain West.

Maybe I'm just lost on this, but what does Texas gain by joining the ACC?

I think it's more about getting out of the Big 12.

That really hasn't been the case for years now. OU people have been pushing their agenda, to the chagrin of most of the rest of the league.

Now if they could get rid of Louisville, their new favorite toy, they might regain a hint of integrity.

I'm sure that's why Texas is whispering about leaving, to get the balance of power back where it belongs.

The last thing Texas wants is to join a conference where other schools are equally powerful and can tell them to get fucked. The SEC has about four of those schools, the ACC and Pac-12 each have two or three. The Big 12 doesn't have one.
