    Description:
CNHI’s Massachusetts newspapers (North of Boston Media Group) have an immediate opening for a lead reporter to cover the Boston Red Sox. The writer will focus primarily on Major League Baseball and the Red Sox with occasional assignments related to other sports (Boston Bruins) of state and national interest. This reporter would be based in Boston and would provide coverage in print and online for four newspapers scattered across North Shore and Merrimack Valley. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of developing sources and digging out the stories our readers care about. He or she will be a talented writer with an ability to connect with an audience on both print and digital platforms. He or she will be comfortable on both sides of a camera and will know how to develop a following on social media. The position offers a competitive salary along with a benefits package including health insurance and a 401k plan. Send a resume and six samples of your best work to hr@northofboston.com .

    Responsibilities include:

    • Writer will provide print and digital Red Sox content, as well as appear in and produce video, engage audiences on social media and participate in other multimedia opportunities.
    • Writer will also help cover other pro sports news, including the Boston Bruins, as well as some important high school coverage (state tournament, Thanksgiving football, etc.).
    • The writer is responsible for daily coverage of their primary beat, including breaking news, game coverage, features and multimedia elements.
    • Each writer will submit a list of items they will be providing each day, including length, estimated time of arrival and additional elements (video, photo, etc), to the managing editor. The managing editor will combine each writer’s submissions into a comprehensive budget and distribute the budget to all properties.
    • Writers will also, as their beat allows, cover other major events in Boston sports, such as supporting Patriots coverage and some big college games or big events in the Boston area.
    • Travel to about half of the Red Sox road games, Spring Training and yearly General Manager meetings will be required.
North of Boston Media Group offers a comprehensive benefits package; including health, dental, vision, life, long and short term disability, and 401(k).

A guy who i used to work with applied for it the day after it was posted and has plenty of experience covering pro sports, just not doing so full time, but from what he said, he hasn't heard anything, not even confirmation that his resume and clippings were received.

It was the holiday season. Y'know, people taking time off, traveling, etc.
Have some patience. Undoubtedly there are many, many good candidates and CVs to sift through.
