Former U.S. ambassador to Russia said last night they assumed they were under surveillance and went to great lengths to make sure any sensitive conversation stayed private.

Honestly, I have this on in the background right now, and Tillerson is acquitting himself very well. He has given a very sober, and realistic, analysis of how he sees Putin and Russia -- in short, an adversary, but that doesn't necessarily mean we need to be at odds with them over everything. He said he doesn't want Russia to become an outright enemy, even though he doesn't think it is going to be our friend.

In any case, he sounds very polished. He knows how to stay even and say very level-sounding things.

Meanwhile, Trump probably asked for copies of the tapes and videos so he could use them on his next Howard Stern appearance.

I wonder how residents at Trump Tower are able to come and go with this press conference being held in the lobby. Is there another way into and out of the building?

Tillerson and Mattis are by far the most accomplished nominees for Trump's cabinet. Nobody gets to be ExxonMobil CEO without having a lot on the ball.

    Cheney-esque, if you will.

And he will never live it down, regardless of truth. You know, kind of like how eight years ago dipshits and hickslaps believed Obama was going to be sworn in on the Quran in "traditional Muslim garb."

Nice effort by this hype guy introducing Pence. He condemns CNN for reporting on the intel brief, but then uses some CNN reports about how Cohen was at a baseball game to make CNN look bad.

We all know the most lurid details of this story are probably bullshit. But the President of United States had to present his birth certificate at a press conference because of this man, because he was willing to stoke the fears of dimwits who think anyone who doesn't look like them is likely betraying them — even if that guy edited the Harvard Law Review.

I want Trump to have to disprove the peepee story point by point. I want him to have to jump through hoops to show he's above this. I want his first 100 days to be pee-stained. I want him to dignify ridiculous rumors and innuendo by treating them seriously, because that's what he forced from his bully pulpit made out of stacked gold-leafed promissory notes the president to do in 2012.

I haven't had the chance to look, but how are news outlets handling this? NPR's Morning Edition was quite insistent in stating it would not mention any details. When the hosts would interview people, even staff, they would remind them not to reveal any of the allegations.
