Fyre Festival disaster

Sounds like they reached the Bahamas on United.

 

Word is they'll try again next year with a new name, logo and location in the south Pacific:

 

Some guy on twitter named Brett Sirota demanded that a newspaper headline this story with JA RULAG ARCHIPELAGO.

 

Ah yes, Ja Rule, the artist behind my (rural Upper Michigan) high school class song (in 2002, even). Really.

I didn't vote for it.

 

If I want to hang with spoiled rich young A-holes, I'll go to Coachella. Decent bands, anyway.

 

That whole story read like a thread here. A bunch of pasted tweets amid words.

 

I Worked at Fyre Festival. It Was Always Going to Be a Disaster.

 

This might be one of the greatest toasts ever given, however:

“To living like movie stars, partying like rock stars, and fucking like porn stars.”

 

Why would anyone get satisfaction from something like this? How is this different that a group of friends getting caught in a bad situation at Jazz Fest in New Orleans, or a hockey game in D.C.?

Don't get it, at all.

 

It's also easy to say "10 grand, must be rich assholes."

Or some people who haven't been on vacation or to a concert in years and thought they'd splurge for once.

 

Anybody who has any discretionary income deserves all the bad things the world can do to them, or something.

 

I guess so.
