I'd have to look more closely at the other classes, but I agree with you regarding Carolina. DeCastro alone could bring the Steelers to a C, but you have to remember that Beachum and Adams both became starters, if only temporarily. Spence is also still in the league.

Very interesting. However, this leaps out:

Marathe caught immense crap from the public and the media in recent years as part of the York team, even though he had precious little to do except negotiate contracts with coaches Jim Harbaugh, Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly.

He did a lot more than that, notably trashing the reputation of everyone who had fallen out of favor with Jed.

Lynch shows some promise in that job. The worst thing for 49ers fans would be if he becomes good at it, because that will cut down on the credit Jed and Paraag get. Jed with the 49ers is like the picture of Trump in the truck.

There's no way Goodell could have thought of something that awesome.

Agreed. There isn't a great historic track record when it comes to guys who see success above Jed (Harbaugh) or embarrass him (Trent). It will be interesting to see if the team really turned a corner or not. It is interesting to see Lynch playing the game right now and deferring credit to others.

Pearson told the story on air that night. He said he told Goodell what he was thinking of doing and expected the commish to discourage him, but Goodell told him he should do it.

The Pats didn't hire OJ to mentor Aaron Hernandez and look what happened.
