It is sort of funny to me btw, that on a thread started in order to razz Jeff Pearlman, and where JVD has received a fair amount of abuse, we've only been asked not to pick on one person.

 

He absolutely thinks that people who disagree with him are bad people, and he lets you know it in that way he has. He writes in such an abrasive, insulting way about people. It's a huge turn-off to me and it's hard for me to see him as a "good, bright guy." You are how you act. I guess that's not unusual. I've seen plenty of, "If you voted for Donald Trump, unfriend me" Facebook posts.

BuckWeaver and Doc are in lockstep with their worldviews. Everyone likes BuckWeaver and a lot of people can't stand Doc. There are reasons for that.

 

Without the sparring, this 90 percent of board content would be which female teachers got arrested for having sex with male students, and one or two guys who copy-and-paste JJobs listings.

That's your problem. You argue. You should just agree.

I genuinely think his threads were the most entertaining this site has ever seen in terms of absolute silliness and I would be extremely happy to see his return.

 

You lose me the moment you start taking shots at someone's job or career to win an argument. I think I called Doc "agate boy" at some point, and he lost his mind. I shouldn't have done that, but I wonder how many "coffee machine repairman" shots he has taken over the years. I fucking hate when people go that route (or the latest, "cubicle dweller"), though it shows they can't win an argument on its merits, so I guess I should like it.

 

The thing about JDV is that he didn't cry and whine when people piled on him. He could take the heat. Silliness aside, I respect that a lot more than "serious" people who can't handle disagreement.
