Trump Aides Freaking Out Over Don Jr.'s Russia Email: The 'Sum Of All Fears'

As The Daily Beast reported on Sunday, opinion of Trump’s eldest son among some of Trump’s senior aides, both past and present, is vanishingly low. Since the campaign, a popular, behind-his-back nickname for Trump Jr. within among these advisers has been “Fredo,” referring to Fredo Corleone, the insecure and weak failure of a son in The Godfatherseries who ends up causing major damage to the family.

Over the past week, one senior White House official and a former top Trump campaign aide both independently and bluntly described the president’s son as an “idiot” — one who played a role in the campaign and Trump’s political rise simply because he “shares the same DNA,” the official noted.

Meaning what, you think they didn't actually have it, and bluffed him into releasing it? Or something else?

Doesn't matter if they had it or not, they bluffed his ass out of the casino.

The "failing New York Times" has spent the last few days doing the kind of work we should all embrace, because a free press is vital to a working democracy. That is the case whether they are breaking stories like this or not. But it's especially nice that they are having a moment in which they get to stuff something incriminating in the face of the buffoon we have sitting in the White House.

There might not have been collusion, the jury is still out on that. We do know that the Trump campaign was certainly willing to collude.

Just like McConnell trying to railroad another health care bill through the Senate with minimal, if any, hearings.

By the way, we are so inured to the endless bullshit that old stories that should have shocked the living hell out of people are getting forgotten.

I haven't seen anything about this today. But back in January, before Trump was inaugurated, when the intelligence chiefs briefed Obama and then Trump, there were reports that they appended a 2-page memo (the one it turned out that Comey briefed him about) saying that the Russians were claiming there was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government. It was the memo, in which they also said the Russians were claiming they had compromising personal (hookers pissing on his bed) and financial info about Trump.

At the time, the "Russians were in cahoots with the campaign" thing got written of as "unsubstantiated." What are people thinking now?
