That and notices from Facebook to wish Happy Birthday! to someone who died five years ago.

Another fun LinkedIn thing is when you get a notification urging you to congratulate someone on "1 year at freelance writer," which is basically reminding them, "Hey, it's been a year already since you got laid off! Sweet! Congrats!"

    The words "woke" and "lit"

I get that certain words become part of the zeitgeist, but these two really irk me. I can't even really explain why.

Add "snowflake" and "fake news" to the list.

Some workout buddies of mine use the word "swole" a lot.

    Stop. It.

Yeti coolers, or at least the douche bro types that seem to love them. Hey that's great that you have a cooler that can keep ice from melting for over a week. How many times in your life will you need that? Enough to justify a $300-$400 outlay for a cooler? And the people that own these things are the very definition of conspicuous consumption. You can't merely own one, you have to plaster the stickers all over your 4x4 that's never left the pavement.

Not the be argumentative, but the guys I know that have them use them mainly for fishing.

I got one as a gift. As we were driving home I looked at my wife and said, "I'm sure it's a great cooler, but goddammit people are going to think we are stupid enough to pay for this thing."

Sounds that cars make to confirm for you that the doors have just been locked because you pressed the appropriate button on the fob. Honking horn sound is the worst, but all of them irk me. Especially at 3 a.m. right outside my apartment window. But anytime. Anywhere. Irk. Irk-plus. Almost too much to be on this thread.

This made me think of white suburban kids in the 1990s ending sentences with the word 'yo.'

'4 Non Blondes is the bomb, yo!'
