They are singularly positioned to do something about this.

They aren't going to do anything about this.

    Fuck their "thoughts and prayers."

If someone tweets "thoughts and prayers," they almost certainly are not giving much thought to the victims and often not any prayers.

Perhaps. I just think there are more important things to be outraged about today.

I'd say a set of laws that puts military-grade weapons in the hands of any yokel who wants them is a pretty good starting point for the outrage.

Can we please hold off on the thoughts and prayers? Can we wait a decent interval for platitudes until we keep assault style weapons away from non-military personnel ?

Yeah, that's my point: incorrect reporting, shoddy journalism. Strange that YF didn't pick up on that.

We're a twisted nation that produces people capable of this, and the inability to change things. Guy walks on a plane with a bomb in his shoe. Congress wastes little time to require us all to take our shoes off. Stuff like this happens, they don't even try and make the background checks a little more thorough.

To a large extent, yes. I mean, people scrawling racist or anti-Semitic graffiti on a church or synagogue is surely a hate crime, but it's also just malicious mischief. It's too broad a term to be useful.
