The Orange Bowl was a glorious rattrap hovel. It was an outdoor Boston Garden.

Coming home from school and watching the Cubs on WGN, then the Braves on TBS, then falling asleep to the voice of Jack Buck or Denny Matthews coming from my clock radio in my bedroom, turned way down so my parents wouldn't hear it.

Much like my childhood, except at night I had Brennaman and Nuxhall. I'd often snooze and the Truckin' Bozo would be on WLW when I woke up.

I'll throw in the tacky and wacky Orange Bowl halftime show that somehow found a narrative that could include Charo, David Copperfield and Mary Lou Retton and an animatronic dinosaur.

Boxing on the major broadcast networks in prime time and Saturday afternoons.
Yes, I know the Premier Boxing Champions have done that, but they're not doing it so much anymore.
