. . . at least when he's not busy lying and blackmailing individual American businesses.

Sinclair in the worst of what our business represents. Nexstar is a close second.

If you live in a market 30 or smaller, you likely have one of those two companies in your market. They're almost never #1 in the market - especially Nexstar.

I have friends who are forced to do this "hostage video", word for word.

At the local level, I generally don't see a lot of political bias in their reporting. It's usually simply third-rate, with weaker graphics and less experienced crews.

As for who watches local TV news, we are definitely going the way of newspapers -- just not as quickly. Especially at night, the erosion is apparent. Mornings are flat and growing overall but our demo is leaving (25-54).

A person can still make a good living "doing TV" but the best places to do it are in non-glamour markets where you have high viewership and low cost of living. Think places like Toledo, Louisville, Des Moines, Omaha, Spokane, Boise, Wichita, Tulsa. First-round March Madness markets. Indy, Salt Lake City, OKC and Kansas City are great larger markets to work in the biz.

People want to work in San Diego, Miami, Seattle or Boston but the improved pay doesn't necessarily cover the expensive cost of living.

Study: US is an oligarchy, not a democracy

"Americans do enjoy many features central to democratic governance, such as regular elections, freedom of speech and association and a widespread (if still contested) franchise. But we believe that if policymaking is dominated by powerful business organisations and a small number of affluent Americans, then America's claims to being a democratic society are seriously threatened."

Eric Zuess, writing in Counterpunch, isn't surprised by the survey's results.

"American democracy is a sham, no matter how much it's pumped by the oligarchs who run the country (and who control the nation's "news" media)," he writes. "The US, in other words, is basically similar to Russia or most other dubious 'electoral' 'democratic' countries. We weren't formerly, but we clearly are now."

It is an even-money bet that Barr does something so outrageous on Twitter she'll be too hot for ABC to hold before her show hits its fourth episode.

As long as she doesn't dress up like Hitler and pretend to eat Jewish people as cookies coming from an oven. That surely would be a line from which no career could rebound...
