I'm pretty sure David Byrne would think wins are a meaningless stat if you put the evidence in front of him. Dude's pretty sharp.

Last year Josh Tomlin won 10 games. David Robertson won 9 games. Is Tomlin better?

Because I don't assume that every poster reads every post I contribute.

See what some minor league seasoning can do for a rook!

Guindry had an ERA of 1.73 that season. Gooden ERA of 1.53.

Carlton had an ERA of 1.97 that season

    McLain ERA was at 1.96

That's what really stands out for me for those pitchers during those years. Not the wins.

And in the year Gibson posted a 1.12 ERA, he lost 9 games because the Cardinals averaged 3.6 runs a game (which was actually 4th in the NL that year).

My favorite weird win season was Kevin Millwood in 2005. The Indians won 93 games. Millwood had a 2.39 earned run average.

    He went 9-11.

In games in which Steve Carlton did not get a decision, the 1972 Phillies were 32-103. They were the '62 Mets
